As you all know I recently had a baby girl, Ryann. A lot has changed over the years as Taylor is now 12 and Skylar is 9. There are so many new baby items & gadgets to explore.

Ryann has been exclusively breastfed for 10 months, can you believe it!? When I first had her I struggled with the decision of allowing her to use a pacifier. The lactation consultants strongly urged us to wait until she was at least 3 months to give her one. I took their advice but realized Ryann instead used me as a “pacifier”. It was sweet at first as far as bonding and easy access, however, she is almost one. I’m starting to see how hard it is to break this habit.

When Ryann is one I want to wean her from breastfeeding and figure introducing a pacifier should be the first step. She’ll also be heading to daycare soon and I know we have to teach her to self soothe. We’ve tried a few different types of pacifiers that are modern and chic! They look good and I want them to be “it” but Ryann would not be interested. Finally, I went back to square one…to the pacifiers the hospital suggested, Philips Avent.

This brand has pacifiers called, Soothie Snuggle. To help me entice Ryann to try these they even have plush toys attached to them. Ryann has an elephant and a giraffe! The collection also included a monkey and a seal! The plush toys are so adorable, soft, lightly weighted for comfort, and it’s almost impossible to misplace!

It’s extremely important to sterilize Ryann’s pacifiers which is why I’m impressed with the construction of the Soothie Snuggle. The plush toy can be detached for washing which is great because other soothers seem to be sewn together.

You can also swap out the pacifier for a new Avent pacifier or a different size (it’s recommended you get a new pacifier every 3-4 months).

To clean Ryann’s Soothie Snuggle we use a small mesh laundry bag to throw in the washer. It’s best allow the plush toy to air dry! As far as her pacifiers we use Philips Avent microwave steam sterilizer bags.

Each bag can be used up to 20 times and only takes about 90 seconds in the microwave! It’s that simple! If you’re not a fan of microwaves you can use boiling water for 5 minutes. After sterilizing let the pacifier cool off for 5 minutes. Once both items are clean, dry, and inspected you can reattach and give them back to your baby!

Again, so far we are loving the Soothie Snuggle! Ryann is starting to self soothe, has a plush toy to cuddle with, and it’s easy to clean for Mommy! Wish us luck that this continues so she’ll be a big girl at daycare when she turns one! And if you’re looking for a reliable pacifier definitely try out Philips Avent Soothie Snuggles!
